Microsoft clearly needs a good reason to reverse its previous claims and continue to reject Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. The giant from Redmond has been preparing a redesign of the update codenamed Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) for a long time – it seems that under this name the Sun Valley project appeared on the network for a long time – Microsoft in a certain way periodically revealed details about the new style of the interface, insiders shared earlier unknown information and popular designers in their circles drew realistic concepts based on all this data. – Startup and system items will float above the bottom bar. Start is the business card and face of every latest version of Windows. It is no surprise that in Windows 11, the developers will reshape it again, but not so much from a functional point of view, as from a visual point of view – the Start window will move above the bottom bar.

We have to admit that this small change makes the system much fresher. Judging by the information on the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “interior” of this menu – the innovations will only affect the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float and its design will be exactly the same as in “Start”. The action center will be combined with the control buttons together – something similar has been used for a long time in other operating systems. Almost all mentions of this new menu indicate that it will be an island – a separate panel will house the control buttons, another will have notifications, and another will have specific elements (for example, the player).

– There will be a translucent background with a fade all over

Insiders and concept designers do not really agree on this point – some are convinced that Microsoft will not change its traditions and keep right angles, while others are convinced that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the trend of fillets. The latter fits better into the definition of “all-new Windows” – mouse-over menus alone aren’t enough to consider a new design truly new. Tabs are expected to affect virtually everything in the system, from context menus and system trays to all application windows. It is true that even on this question the opinions of designers differ – some draw curves in all possible elements of the interface, others combine them with right angles. There is disagreement on the web about the style of the display island, the design of the corners and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the windows.
