Tale
The men and women live in a giant silo underground with few regulations that they believe can protect them from the toxic and broken world on the surface. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are the stuff of science fiction. Season 1 covers the first 30 episodes of the book "Wool" – the book has 82 chapters. The fans on the floor in various episodes turn in the wrong direction, due to the orientation of the blades. My first review!
I read the Hughes trilogy a year ago and enjoyed the books immensely. When I happened to be scrolling through IMDB and found SILO, I was immediately intrigued. I see some conflicting opinions and I can relate to some of them. Here’s my take on the first season. First, I adore dystopian literature!
It is not an adaptation in the sense that it follows a plot
The dystopian genre offers a unique psychological perspective on human nature in hypothetical scenarios. My interest in the trilogy was heightened because Hughes was able to develop Orwellian ideas into a hypothesis relevant to the modern world. Depicting the development of the human psyche in dystopian scenarios is a difficult task. I think Hughes has done a wonderful job, SILO captures most of these aspects refreshingly. It is based on the books, but of course has to adapt to the audience in a fast-paced world.
The acting is phenomenal for the main characters
Nevertheless, the series manages to capture the atmosphere of a society living in silos. In contrast to the shallow storytelling of other shows, SILO has a wonderful combination of character development and atmospheric focus. The only problem I have with the show is the lack of atmospheric development. They spend a lot of screen time searching for and capturing Juliet. They lack an atmospheric silo as a societal development.
