When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford to join the show, Segel said that Goldstein initially wanted “a Harrison Ford type” and intended to cast people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least introduce him to Ford, thinking he would immediately turn it down, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been introduced to the project, sparking interest from other big-name actors.

Eventually, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was still elated.. Featured on WatchMojo: The 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). And the rest of the show is great, too.

And Jessica is perfect

He has the weird, idiotically confident energy that the role requires. Her humor is just right for the dialogue. It’s a new take on situational drama. No special traits, just engaging personalities with a hint of weirdness, and family circumstances that are a little bit beyond the norm, but still relatable.

It’s just impossible

Of course, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd. You’d lose your license right away. But in drama, we allow metaphorical situations. And in this script, we feel a strong sense of purpose in the decisions.
