The film was so simplistic and vulgar, it almost felt like an American comedy. I can see an American remake in its future. This was quite refreshing for a French comedy, although not my type. French comedies usually start out funny and suddenly die serious before the end.

His brothers are greedy and pure evil

No one has a hidden face — Benoît remains strange and timid from start to finish. Fake Girlfriend has no social graces from start to finish. The parents are just the standard rich and confused couple you see in most French comedies. Their arc was completely predictable in such films, so they were at least interesting.

I can see an American remake in its future

However, I’m glad I have an unlimited movie pass, because the ticket prices at the cinema are so high that I would be unhappy to spend a lot of money on this. Its future would be as the standard Sunday night movie on French television.. The film was so simple-minded and vulgar that it felt like an American comedy.
